The Investigation Wing of Lahore Police on Monday claimed to have busted 317 gangs, arrested 21,748 proclaimed offenders, traced 3,432 cases of robberies and recovered Rs 390 million in 2011.
According to details Lahore Police registered 632 cases of murders during year 2011 and investigation wing traced over 493 cases so far with 78 percent ratio. Similarly, 47 persons kidnapped for ransom were recovered out of total 53 incidents whereas around 2,397 cases of kidnapping for other reasons were registered in different police stations during this period. City police claimed that 1940 have been recovered safely.
Likewise, out of 2,363 cases of stolen vehicles over 2,012 were traced. Similarly, 21,748 proclaimed offenders (POs) were arrested during this period, 1376 cases were lodged on charges of having automatic firearms and police claimed to have arrested all the accused of this category and recovered 8 hand grenades, 12 Kalashnikovs, 47 rifles, 291 guns, 1323 pistols and 20 revolvers from their possession. The investigation police also arrested 2,629 drug peddlers Investigation wing claimed to have lodged 89 cases and arrested only 188 gamblers.
IG TAKES NOTICE: Punjab IG Javed took notice about the absence of Lahore Police’s top cops from the funeral prayer of deceased Station House Officer (SHO) Hudiara and asked the CCPO and the SHO to take the cheque issued by the government to the family of the deceased in a late night development.
