Residents of Rana Town on Monday staged a demonstration to protest gas outages and low pressure.
The protesters, mostly women and children, blocked the main road and chanted slogans. They said gas outages had adversely affected their routine life as they were unable to prepare food, adding that they had tried to contact officers of SNGPL but to no avail.
They urged the government to frame a comprehensive gas policy to ensure the supply to domestic consumers. When contacted, a high-ranking official of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) said the company was facing a 32 percent shortage in its system.
