At least 12 militants, including a Taliban commander and a soldier, were killed in a clash here on Monday. Three women and four children were also recovered during operation.
According to details, security forces exchanged heavy fire with militants during a search operation in Landikotal town of Khyber tribal district.
The fire exchange continued for several hours during which 12 militants and a solider were killed.
A Tehreek Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander, Qari Kamran, was among the dead. Qari Kamran belonged to Tehreek Taliban Nowshera and was involved in Risalpur and Nowshera bomb blasts. He was also involved in attacks on security forces convoys.
“The operation was carried out after an intelligence tip off”, a senior security official said.
An intelligence official said troops surrounded a house during the operation and recovered three kidnapped women and four children after three hours of exchange of fire.
These terrorists should be hunted and punished severely. That is the only way the production of improvised explosive devices can be stopped.
