After Ayesha Ahad Malik, self-proclaimed spouse of Punjab chief minister’s son, Hamza Shahbaz, on Friday knocked on the PA’s doors against alleged police torture, female opposition lawmakers joined her in a solidarity protest against the government. They joined Ayesha, daughter of a former Member of Provincial Assembly, in a sit-in outside the PA main gate to block the exit of Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, the speaker and other treasury members. Rana Sanaullah did not attempt to leave the PA building before Ayesha and the demonstrators had dispersed. The speaker in his chambers and left under high security cover. Chief Minister’s Advisor Zulfiqar Khosa refused to hear the protesters’ complaints. Female opposition legislators joined Ayesha in a press conference and protested against the law minister and demanded the Punjab chief minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president remove him because he has no respect for women. Ayesha Ahad Malik told journalists police had tortured her and she wanted to meet the PA speaker to seek justice. She said she could prove she was married to Hamza Shahbaz Sharif and she would follow Hamza wherever he goes till she gets justice.
