Opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday said that the statement of Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani regarding Osama bin Laden is a charge sheet against the defence forces.
While addressing the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar said that Prime Minister Gilani and the government should clarify their position on the statement.
“The statement of the prime minister might be used against the defense forces in an international forum or court,” he added.
For the accuracy of record, Gilani should take his statement back in front of public, he observed.
He observed that Gilani had already changed his statement regarding the state within state and said that he was pointing towards the defense secretary. However, Chaudhry Nisar felt that secretary of defense was not responsible for this situation.
Commenting on the gas crisis, he observed that the government has failed to resolve issue, adding that Dr Asim is a proud minister and should be asked to resign from his current designation.
He demanded the government to frame long and short programmes for the gas supply by Monday, adding that opposition would defer the strike over the issue.
He said that the minister for petroleum and natural resources was a good doctor who took extreme care of President Zardari when he was in jail for which he was awarded the said ministry, adding that the ‘fugitive’ ministers should be brought to the assembly.
He said that Dr Asim was not eligible for the ministry, adding that gas crisis was the proof of government’s inefficiency.
Chaudhry Nisar also said that opposition gave respect to the speakers of the National Assembly, saying that Javed Hashmi’s Thursday speech was meant for the government. He said that the speaker did not allow Shah Mehmood Qureshi to deliver his last speech to the parliament while it was the dream of the opposition to hear his last words.
