DAYTONA BEACH – Australian veteran Karrie Webb, a World Golf Hall of Fame player, was elected to the LPGA Board of Directors for a three-year term, the women’s golf tour announced Tuesday. Webb, who has 36 career LPGA triumphs and three season money titles plus two Player of the Year awards, and American Allison Fouch were elected by their peers to the directors spots.
Australian Michelle Ellis was re-elected as president for a third year and American Kim Hall was elected vice president in a vote of player directors. The LPGA has struggled to keep tournaments and sponsors in a troubled global economy over the past two years and has not yet announced its 2011 schedule. Webb hopes she can be part of the solution for the LPGA’s headaches.
