Two persons lost their lives, while four persons sustained injuries, in two separate road accidents on Wednesday.
A collision between a train and truck claimed the life of train driver Feroz Din and injured four Railway officials in the Shahdara Town Police precincts. In another incident, 35-year-old Sikandar, a resident of Badami Bagh, was crushed to death by a speeding car in the Shahdbagh Police precincts.
BODIES FOUND: The bodies of a newborn girl and a 65-year-old man were recovered from two different areas of the city on Wednesday. The newborn girl’s body was found packed in a sack from the North Cantonment Police precincts. While, the body of a 65-year-old man, yet to be identified, was found in the Gulberg police precincts. The police said that the deceased was a drug addict who had died of cold weather.
SHOPKEEPER’S DEATH: The Shahdra Police failed to arrest the culprits involved in the murder of a shopkeeper.
The investigation officer (IO) said that an investigation team had been sent to Gujranwala to arrest the accomplices of Javed, who had already been detained. He said that the victim’s autopsy report had dispelled the impression that firing by the police officials had claimed his life.
GANGS BUSTED: The Saddar Division Investigation Wing claimed to have arrested four persons and recovered 188 fake currency notes from their possession.
Meanwhile, the Investigation Wing of the Factory Area arrested two car lifters and recovered a Suzuki Bolan from their possession.
