The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday formally started development work in Sector I-11 after retrieving the land from illegal occupants. According to a press statement issued here, a meeting was held at the CDA headquarters which was presided over by the authority’s chairman, Engineer Farkhand Iqbal. “The CDA formulated a strategy to get the land vacated and to develop it. He added that he was committed to getting all the CDA land vacated in an amicable way and that the development process of the other sectors, including I-15, D-12 and E-12, would be expedited.
Iqbal said the development project would not only solve the problem of the shortage of housing units in the city, but also establish the writ of the authority. He added the retrieved land would be constantly monitored and pickets established in the area. He would visit the affected sectors and take up the issue with the residents of the areas to reach a suitable solution, he further said. He pointed out that the CDA faced no resistance to the development work. The residents of the area and senior officers of the authority participated in the meeting.
