President Asif Ali Zardari, lashing out at the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, said on Tuesday that he (Iftikhar) took up the petitions against the government but was not paying heed to the petition sent by him to seek revisiting of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto case.
With pointing out name, he asked the Chief Justice what happened with the case of Shaheed BB murder case.
While addressing PPP workers at Garhi Khuda Bux, President Zardari said, “I ask Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry what has happened to the BB murder case.”
He said further some cases are visible to Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while some others are not. The things which are against our prestige are important in your view, he added.
President Zardari said the best way to pay tribute to slain premier Benazir Bhutto on the fourth anniversary of her martyrdom was to foil anti-democratic conspiracies. He vowed to protect the system, disallowing the federation’s split.
He added that he had spent many years behind the bars but his love for democracy remained firm and steadfast.
He further said that they would continue to fight undemocratic forces but would do so following democratic norms. “We will fight for democracy, not seats” said President Zardari.
Zardari stated that the democracy is new in the country, and needs time to mature and get to the point where it should be. He said those who say that democracy is in place must know that the spirit of democracy will take time to hold. The democracy with all its qualities will take time and sacrifices, which we are willing to pay.
“Let us on this day re-dedicate ourselves to the democratic mission of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto whose life was dedicated to fighting dictatorship and those seeking to defame and dismantle democratic institutions,” the president said.
“I therefore urge all the democratic forces and the patriotic Pakistanis to foil all conspiracies against democracy and democratic institutions,” he said.
Her assassination was a conspiracy to rid the world of its best weapon to combat international violent extremism. It was a conspiracy to rob Pakistan of its best hope to establish a fully functional democracy,” he added.
He declared himself completely fit saying that he wanted to make history not headlines in the media. The embattled president, who has recently been under treatment in Dubai after the alleged memogate surfaced, seems very energetic during his rare speech, targeting the apex court and ‘anti-democratic forces’.
“We don’t make headlines, we make history,” the president said adding that his government had given identity to Pakhtuns and run the system smoothly while bearing two floods.
Zardari said tailor-made democracies don’t work. I don’t pay heed to anyone except Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani as he represents the parliament.
He said the chapter of Benazir assassination has been reopened after former US state secretary Condoleezza Rice’s book surfaced.
The president said he wanted to address miseries of Baloch people. “I want to resolve the matters within the parameters of the federation,” he continued. “If Baloch want to fight, they should learn from us how to fight,” he said.
The president slams the apex court saying that cases like Zulfiqar Bhutto’s murder and former religious affair minister fraud case were being ignored.
President Zardari also took a swipe at TV talk shows. He also said that Asifa will carry forward the legacy of Benazir Bhutto. He said he has advised his political leaders, party men and activists not to attend TV talk shows, which he said pitch politicians against each other.
It is vital to mention here the large gathering got together in connection of the Benazir Bhutto’s fourth death anniversary. Bhutto, twice-elected prime minister and wife of Zardari, was killed in a gun and suicide attack on December 27, 2007 in the garrison city of Rawalpindi after addressing an election rally.

  1. The best way to pay tribute to Benazir Sheehed is not exploit her 'shadat'for political purposes,Bring back the looted money in since 1988 and especially last 46 months.Another way to give best tribute to her is that her husband, incidentally our President must respect Constitution =ion and act against it from day one.He should stop acting political, partisan, despot, protect target killers, bathakhors as coalition partners, polorise nation .The best way to pay tribute to Benazir sahiba ias to resign for breaching constitution everyday since he assumed his present office .

  2. I just recalled his speech at the UN where he was begging with Benazir Bhutto's photo in front of him for an International / UN enquiry… so pathetic at best… I wonder what does he do all day long? Count all his money like Scrooge McDuck, at least Scrooge made his bucks genuinely…

  3. The best way for you is to resign and Return the looted money, Confess that you (Mr. Zardari) have been destroying the country !

  4. You have absolutely No idea of democracy just ruling pakistan, You cant FOOL people any more. You want your son to be next ruler This is democracy?

  5. The crook is cornered, he doesn`t want the memogate case investigated and this is his pathetic way of blackmailing the CJ.

  6. President has rightly said our apex courts are selective. They are specifically picking up cases wherein there is even slimest chance of getting the President implicated. While other cases involves other leaders especially PML(N) are not even touched. This is discrimination of worst kind people anywhere in the world may have seen in the courts. And this is perhapse why our courts have become so predictable that people know fate of cases even before a petition is submitted for hearing. Good or bad Asif ALi Zardari is elected President and he is legitimately sitting in President House.

  7. shut up….He is elected president and we would vote him again to presidency…down with establishment stooges like PTI, ISI and IJI.

  8. I really pity this crook who now senses that he has been cornered. No doubt, Establishment is the ultimate savior of countries like Pakistan.

    • Someone should have told you that the CJ don't investigate a memo. The national security concern is the domain of parliament and the executive branch.

  9. Has the government completed an investigation and filed charges for the murder of Benazir Bhutto on 27 Dec and the attack on her on 17 Oct 2007 in Karachi. The courts can only move when the prosecution files the charges based on investigation carried out by police, FIA or other state investigation agencies. I fail to understand how the delay can be blamed on judiciary, when it is the government itself which is responsible.

  10. Yes I agree with AAZ, this supreme Court has totally lost uts credibility & morality.
IMC should resign and take part in politics openly if he is so fond it.

  11. Most people writing their comments here are stupid middle class people who sit in chairs in Imran Khan meetings and listen to his stupid and mindless speech. They r stupid and mindless and egoist. So they r unable to understand a truely political analysis of p[akistan situation by President AA Zardari. These stupid middle-classias writing comments here r unable to understand what people from Sindh, KP, Baluchistan and rural areas of Punjab r thinking about Punjabi elite and Punjabi army and civil service. Prseident is representing this class.
