A shallow westerly wave affecting northern parts of the country since Tuesday is likely to cause isolated light rain with light snowfall over the hills in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and adjoining hilly areas during next 24 hours. According to Met department’s analysis, the westerly wave is likely to persist for next two to three days while continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country.
In Punjab and federal capital, very cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the province during next 24 hours.
However, foggy conditions are likely to remain in plain areas of the Punjab; Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Multan and Bahawalpur divisions from mid-night to morning.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, very cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the province however isolated light rain with light snowfall over the hills may occur in Malakand, Hazara divisions in KP during next 24 hours.
Mostly partly cloudy weather is expected in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during next 24 hours and there are also chances of rain and light snowfall in most parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and adjoining hilly areas during next 24 hours. Lowest minimum temperature was recorded -10 C at Skardu while Monday’s minimum temperature in Islamabad was -2 C, Lahore 0 C, Quetta -4 C, Karachi 10 C, Peshawar 0 C, Muzaffarabad 0 C, Gilgit -6 C, Murree -4 C, Multan 2 C and Faisalabad 1C.
