Student groups clash in Urdu University

Activists belonging to student organizations clashed in Federal Urdu University’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal campus here on Monday, suspending academic process in the institution.
According to reports, the altercation over a petty issue led to violent fighting between two dozen workers of two separate student groups, prompting them to use sticks in the clash against each other, and creating chaos in the university.
According to sources, the university’s administration called police and Rangers contingents which controlled the situation. Police fired shells on a group of students holding protest demonstration in the university premises as offices of nonacademic staff were closed after the incident.
University officials said that the MBA paper scheduled to be held today was cancelled due to the tense situation in the university, adding that a new date for the paper would be announced later.
