PML-N President Nawaz Sharif said on Saturday that no one would be allowed to dissolve parliament and abrogate the constitution.
Nawaz Sharif said this while addressing a ceremony held at University of Engineering and Technology in connection with birthday of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
He said dictators always ruined the country and thousands of soldiers were martyred in war on terror, he added.
“When I was removed from the office of Prime Minister and sent to jail I said at that moment that injustice had been done to the country. Country suffered in consequence of this injustice. Suicide attacks took place in Pakistan. Thousands of people were killed in these attacks. National economy sustained loss to the tune of 7 billion dollars”, he held.
Economy of the country was in dire straits at present, he said adding GDP growth rate stands at 2.5 percent while GDP growth rate of India was gaining momentum on fast track basis.
He urged the government to focus on the economic growth of the country and address the problems facing the common man. Rulers should go home if they could not do so, he underlined.
“If I am not tiger then I am also not a jackal. Had I been a jackal I would not have led long march putting my life at risk. Had you not been tiger you would not have joined hands with me in Long March. I have taken oath of premiership twice but I was not pleased as much while taking oath of prime minister as I was while staging Long March”, he underscored.
Young generation is with PML-N, he maintained. “Some people are saying they will bring about such a change that green passport of Pakistan will be respected throughout the world. But I want to say them we had brought this change in 1998 when we had conducted 6 nuclear blasts in reciprocation to India. At that time country was held in high esteem in all over the world. That was a real change”, he observed.
“Pakistan is a country of 160 million people. I will do for the country whatever is possible for me. I will create a new Pakistan which will be free from poverty and unemployment”, he said.
Had the intent been good, everything would have been available in the country and there would have been no unemployment in the country, he stated. PPP led government had brought the country to the brink of destruction, he alleged. Pakistan was nuclear power at present due to the services rendered by PML-N in defense and strategic fields, he added.
If the comparison is made between Pakistan of today and Pakistan of 1998, we would come to know there was no load shedding in 1998 and on the other hand India was aspirant to import electricity from Pakistan, he said. There was no terrorism in the country and Pakistan was registering record progress in every field, he remarked.
“Vajpayee came to Pakistan and signed reconciliation treaty with me and said Kashmir and other issues will be resolved”, he said.
Shahbaz Sharif has promised to provide 100,000 laptops to different colleges in Punjab, he pointed out. In the next year 200,000 laptops will be provided, he added.
Talking to journalists later, he said Javed Hashmi remained with him till the public meeting of Larkana. We pray for the success of Javed Hashmi wherever he will go. I respect Javed Hashmi as we launched joint struggle together. If Javed Hashmi had any objection, he should have discussed it by remaining in the party, he added.
