Zardari was worried before leaving for Dubai: Aitzaz

Pakistan People’s Party leader and former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association Aitzaz Ahsan on Sunday said that President Asif Ali Zardari seemed worried when he telephoned Aitzaz before leaving for Dubai.
Talking to private news television, Aitzaz said that resignations from the president and prime minister cannot be taken by putting a pistol on their heads, rather a constitutional way should be used to take resignations from them.
Aitzaz dismissed the claims that the current government was under threat due to the memogate scandal, observing that the federation, Army and DG ISI had contradictory statements in memogate case.

  8. Aitzaz is one of the saner elements in the PPP although unfortunately sidelined by the person who is the President of the republic and who remembered Aitzaz in trying times.
    Aitzaz is absolutely right that the resignations could not be obtained on gun point. The military should realise that those days are gone when the justices obeyed the dictators and legalised their dictatorship. Let the present regime finish its term or take constitutional steps to remove them rather than military chief wagging his stick.

    There was no need for a resignation being signed on a gun point. Do you think a coup d’etat would have waited for the resignation? There would not have been a need for a resignation.

    Most politicians in Pakistan have not matured beyond the student politics. I have heard of the development of another thought in the politicians. They believe that they are not salaried employees of the state and hence superior to those who have been in regular employment.

    I think Pakistani nation, which I strongly believe, is a very strong nation should give due credit to the present army chief that he has not done anything to uproot this sapling of a political government and allowed it to learn from its mistakes. He has acted with due prudence and patience. Congratulations and let us hope that it stays this way.

    Asif Ali zardari is the right answer to all these cooks who pretend to be angels.
