The Punjab government will set up Christmas bazaars to facilitate the Christian community ahead of Christmas. These bazaars would be set up in all major cities of the province and funds have already been allocated for the purpose, official sources said on Thursday, adding that to ensure prevalence of peace, police would be deployed at all churches and other worship places. A range of essential items would be available at reasonable prices.
Readymade garments, shoes and other necessary articles would be on sale, sources said. Minorities Minister Kamran Michael said the government wanted to facilitate all communities in every respect. He said special discounts would be given at Christmas bazaars: 20 kg flour bags would be available for Rs 400 only. Likewise, other essential commodities would also be available at cheaper rates.
