In a gross violation of rules, a private medical college in the metropolitan, Azra Naheed Medical College, has admitted 30 students who did not even sit for the compulsory medical entry test, University of Health Sciences authorities revealed to Pakistan Today.
Per the rules set by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) only those students who appear in the entry test conducted by the University of Health Sciences (UHS) are eligible to take admission in private medical colleges. However, setting an example in one of the most daring violation of rules with impunity, of the 100 medical students at ANMC, around 30 have no record of having appeared in the entry test.
“The UHS authorities are probing the incident and a few cases have already surfaced during the initial investigation,” a UHS official said. The UHS has also written a letter to the Punjab Health Department highlighting the violation of rules, asking it to take action against the ANMC. Interestingly, ANMC has been operating without affiliation with the UHS also, which is mandatory for any medical college within the geographical boundaries of Punjab per Section 37 of the UHS Act. The matter is sub-judice and the status of the medical college is also uncertain until the Lahore High Court issues a verdict.
Sources further revealed that the entire exercise has been done to mint money and “oblige” people by giving admissions to those students who could not have secured admission in a medical college otherwise. They further said even those students who have appeared in the entry test have scored very poorly, which is going to effect the quality of doctors being produced by medical institutions. They further said ANMC could not admit students at all because the matter of their affiliation with the UHS was still pending in the LHC and it is “unfair” to put students’ future at stake. Health Secretary Jehanzaib Khan was not available for comments.
What is going to happen to this country, with such un-scrupulous individuals, minting black and filthy money, whilst playing with people’s lives?
Pakistan today you really need to stop removing my comments.

Haram k Paisa ho gaa in logon k pass kiyu k iss tarhan Paisa bhi Zaya Aur Bachoon ka Mustaqbil bhi Tabbah ..
we ll correct it ..
The reason why doctors have lost respect in Pakistan is because of all these private medical colleges which are allowing anyone to join. Prior to private medical colleges, you had to EARN your way into these prestigious schools with your marks. Now anyone with money can become a “doctor”. It’s such a disgrace to the profession. Medicine is not about gaining “respect” in society or making money – it’s about helping those in need. PMDC needs to seriously re-evaluate itself and private medical colleges.
If ANJUM AQEEL MNA can enjoy in PIMS,why not A N
this filthy environment would wreck the status bestowed to soviours of life juz at the hands of illiterate businessmen who give a damn to evrery required prestige an institution proclaims.well its not their fault at all if speaking truth as alota such institutions hv been opnd at cost of relationships before so now its time for judicery to play its role if it instills for what they had fought a long cold war.dare to nip this evil its srs
same is the case with taking addmissions in physiotherapy in private medical colleges where no entry test works, everyone having mony can be a future physiotherapist having 500 and 600 marks no compition open choice,….It's such a disgrace to the profession.
not only ANMC but all pvt medical colleges are indulge in such shabby practices and UHS itself is now not an authenticated institution as its granting positions in return of money to pvt medic colleges.very pathetic no pvt college offers paid seats in hospitals to their graduates. PMDC and PMA are now private colleges representing bodies,,,
exactly
PMDC was a good thing prior to privatisation of medical education but now it has ruined medical profession by selling it in rent houses so called medical colleges.we totally condem private medical colleges
The real problem lies with the organizations like UHS and PMDC. All the members of PMDC mostly are principals of private medical colleges. So it is very obvious as to why PMDC always are on the side of private medical colleges. As for the UHS it is a highly corrupt institution which also takes bribe and remains quiet and if some private college does not get affiliate to it then it makes a hue and cry which is just stupid of UHS as there is no rule at the PMDC level which is the organization to control private medical colleges not some bullshit UHS act 37. Anyways to cut short if the organization is corrupt then it does not deserve to be a university for affliation.
