The All Pakistan Trade Union Federation (APTUF) and the Working Women’s Organisation held a protest rally in respect of the 16 days of activism against violence against women under GS Robina Jameel which was held on December 8 at the press club. This included the demand for the protection of female home-based workers, and the large percentage of women employed by the informal sector. Speakers said women comprise half the population, and have globally taken many steps forward. However, thanks to Pakistan’s feudal system, women were oppressed here, and were subjected to hundreds of brutal and cold-blooded crimes.
