MOC denies APTTA ratification

ISLAMABAD – The ministry of commerce (MOC) said that the Afghanistan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA) will come into effect after exchange of instruments of ratification between the two countries.
A statement issued said that it has been wrongly reported in a section of the media that APTTA was to have been effective from the first of January. The APTTA was signed on October 28, 2010 in Kabul by the commerce ministers of both countries.
The agreement has also been ratified by the cabinet in its meeting on December 1, 2010. The instruments of ratification have also been signed by President Zardari. The instruments are expected to be exchanged soon. “
