At least eight people including two children were killed and 15 others injured when a gas cylinder exploded in a passenger bus on National Highway near Matiari, police and witnesses said on Wednesday. Police said the ill-fated bus was carrying 23 passengers from Matiari to Hyderabad when its cylinder exploded on the National Highway.
At least two women and two children were among the dead, police said. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals. At the end of November, a CNG-powered passenger van exploded after it overturned when one of its tyres blasted, causing a huge fire on the van and 14 people on board were burned to death. Earlier this year, some 30 people in a fully packed passenger van were all burned to death following an explosion of the gas cylinder on the vehicle en route to Rawalpindi.
