The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday sought reply from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Senator Dr Babar Awan on a petition seeking contempt of court action against him for willfully defaming the judiciary, uttering derogatory remarks and leveling severe accusations against the apex court during his press conferences in response to court cases. Justice Khalid Mehmood issued notices to the respondents, including Awan, directing them to file reply and para wise comments until December 20. The petition was filed by Afaq Ahmed requesting the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against the PPP leader, who was continuously attacking the judiciary and making remarks against judges, which was tantamount to contempt of court.
