ISLAMABAD – Claiming that only political parties from Azad Kashmir have right to represent the Kashmiri people, AJK Prime Minister Sardar Atique Ahmad on Sunday warned that any intervention of non-Kashmiri political parties in the state would be a ‘counter-productive’ for the Kashmir cause and Pakistan itself.
He was addressing a meeting of the Central Executive Committee of the Muslim Conference held here. According to a source privy to deliberations at the meeting, the AJK prime minister said that Nawaz Sharif should have promoted the Kashmir cause after taking the political forces in AJK into confidence instead of starting a new political fight within the AJK, which would adversely affect the Kashmir cause.
He said that Sardar Atique also ruled out any possibility of mid-term elections in AJK. A statement issued here after the meeting, Sardar Atique said that human rights violations in Indian held Kashmir had reached an intolerable extent and an international body, consisting of human rights activists, would soon be formed to expose the Indian excesses in the Kashmir region.
He said that Kashmir issue had been internationalised as the US president and Chinese prime minister had stressed for its resolution during their visits to India. Atique said, “The Muslim Conference, being an ideological party, truly represented the political ideas of Qauid-i-Azam”.
