Foundation for Rehabilitation and Education of Slow Children (FRESH), an NGO dedicated to learning disabilities and remedial education among children in Pakistan, offered its services to the Punjab government to operate primary education schools in major cities of the province, including Lahore, Sargodha and Rawalpindi.
FRESH General Secretary Ashba Kamran said the key to success for the Pakistan education sector was designing a tailor-made primary syllabus, inline with the socio-economic background of the Pakistani people. She said learning disabilities were an important factor behind the high dropout rate in Pakistan. The UNESCO report suggested that 3.8 million children dropped out at primary level in Pakistan, while only 33 percent of Matric and 47 percent of FA. students got through the examinations this year, she said.
