‘Pakistan’s future linked with technical education’

Pakistan’s future is linked with technical education and by equipping the younger generation with modern knowledge not only the problem of unemployment can be overcome but the country can also be put on the road to progress, Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif said on Saturday.
He was chairing a meeting to review initiatives taken for promotion of technical education in the province at the CM’s Secretariat. Shahbaz directed officers that steps should be taken speedily for promotion of technical education in the province and public-private partnership (PPP) should be promoted in this regard. He stressed that a practicable and transparent policy be formulated and presented within the next few days for this purpose, including steps such as provision of incentives to the private sector for promotion of modern technical education. Shahbaz said that the Punjab government was pursuing a comprehensive strategy for promotion of technical education in the province. He said that TEVTA and the Punjab Vocational Training Council had been made vibrant and dynamic institutions, which had been given the target of preparing skilled manpower keeping in view the demands of the market.
MEETING QUARTER MASTER GENERAL: Shahbaz held a meeting with Quarter Master General Lieutenant General Sajjad Ghani during which implementation of development schemes in the province and the project of refurbishing old buses with cooperation of the National Logistic Cell were discussed. He said that transparency was the hallmark of the Punjab government and quality, transparency and timely completion of all development projects were being ensured.
JICA: A team of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) called on Shahbaz and presented a study report conducted in regard to the Lahore Urban Transport Plan 2020-2030, which included steps such as the Rapid Mass Transit System (RMPS), Bus Rapid Service (BRS) and traffic management keeping in view future requirements.
DENGUE MEETING: Shahbaz chaired a meeting to review the dengue situation in the province and steps taken for its eradication and provision of diagnostic facilities to the people at reasonable rates.
