Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has approved the rules/policy for ‘Compulsory Monetization of Transport Facility for Civil Servants (BPS-20 to 22)’, a private TV channel reported.
The rules/policy were formulated in line with the decision of the cabinet in its meeting held on June 3, 2011.
The application of the monetization policy will be compulsory for all civil servants (BS-20 to 22) as per the approved parameters.
According to the proposed policy, there will be complete ban on purchase of staff cars while no officer of BS-20 to BS-22 will be entitled and authorised to use project vehicles or the departmental operational/general duty vehicles for any kind of duty.
Services of the regular permanent driver will be offered to BS-20 to BS-22 civil servants on optional basis on deduction of Rs 10,000 per month from the monetized value. There will be no new recruitment of drivers.
The implementation of the policy will result in likely savings of Rs 1.369 billion per annum.

  1. Would this order be implemented, like all other good orders wasted away? Even this day, 20s use not one but many cars with compelte disregard to having one. Now they will enjoy both: Monetization money as well as usage of the departmental fleet.

  2. What a rubbish way of running the country. It is reminder of Late Junejo's similar decison, which led to more wastage of governemnt resources. The answer lies not in Withdrawl of facility but in strict implementation of the orders. The policy is likely to encourage more misuse and corruption- Saeed Ali

    • dear , staff car is authorized from grade 20 and onwards and no staff car is authorized to grade 17 ,18 and 19

  3. staff cars are authorised for grade 20 to 22 in beaurocracy but now they will get 35000,45000 and 60000 rupees instead of car for fuels etc.good decision as about 2 billions will be saved

    • Why ignored the officials and officers from BPS 1 to 19, whether they are not the citizens and servants of Pakistan, whether this is not a clear discrimination and is it not effect the basic right of govt servants .Whether this is not against the Islamic law and teaching of Islam This scheme should be extended to all officials and officers from 1 to 19 in accordance with their scale. In case the scheme couldn't extend to all then it is required for govt to discard /ban for the officers 20-22 also….Ashiq
