Former director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Tariq Khosa has refused to head the commission formed by the Supreme Court to probe into the “memogate” scandal. Khosa formally informed the Supreme Court that he would not be able to head the commission, leaving it for the apex court to appoint someone else in his place. According to a source, a letter was delivered to the chief justice of Pakistan in his chamber regarding the refusal of Tariq Khosa. Meanwhile, Geo News reported that former FIA DG Rafiq Haider could be assigned the task in place of Tariq Khosa. The PPP had expressed its reservations on the appointment of Tariq Khosa as the head of the commission. Questioning the formation of the commission by the Supreme Court under Khosa, former law minister Babar Awan had on Thursday said that the formation of the commission was the prerogative of the executive.

  1. It is not time to investigate Memo scandal. The government now urgently needs to investigate those judges who are working on certain given lines to derail democracy. Public at large needs to know that why LHC and SC is on one page against the government in the center. People must know these forces of darkness and punished forthwith.

    • Mr Aftab, you are absolutely right. Presently, our dear homeland, has the privilege of having history's most prejudiced judiciary under the inspiring leadership of Iftikhar Chaudhry.

      • shame on you ppl. CJP recovered billions of rupees from looters. You call it a democracy in which conspiracies are hatched against the country. we are ashamed to be having such pakistanis who are supporting looters, plunderers and conspirators.

  2. Our government's "agility" in probing the infamous scandals is proverbial. It will do anything to keep up the tradition of concealing facts from Pakistani public whether it is secret agreements with the US, the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, the infamous Abbotabad operation, the bars against implementing the resolutions of the Parliaments.

The above comment reflects the prevailing mindset which envisages investigation and accountability as merely vindictive measures. It is this mindset that reduces our national politics to the level of family feuds. If this way of thinking persists, Pakistan will continue to be a land of mysteries!

    • When Supreme Court has the guts to issue orders without any formality of issuing Notices to Respondents and giving reliefs to the Petitioner beyond what he requested, then one can only say, May Allah help our beloved homeland! Aameen.

      • Who says notices have not been issued. 15 days notices have been issued. Why you people are scared of memo probe? Has SC done some thing so bad that you are flared up. SC just ordered to gather proves through commision.

  3. Chief Justice & his cronies should be tried under article 6 of constitution. Its they who are violating constitution and have paralysed the whole democratic process. May God save Pakistan from this deep state which does include Kiani & co & bureaucracy.

      • You are also violating constitution by criticing SC hnourable judges. Why not you also be tried? If you expect from others to follow constitution, you should first yourselve follow it. Auron ko nasihat khud mian fazihat. Leave this hypocricy.

        • One thing for sure, SC moved a little too quick on this issue. Before noting failure of other organs of the Government (the responsibility center)…

  4. Memogate scandal concerns much with military intelligence, defence and nuclear assets,so be tried in military court as well.

    • Pakistan is taking a strong stand against USA. Please do not fall into this trap. We fell in a similar trap in 1977 and still do not seem to have learned any lesson.

  5. Know all citizens of Pakistan that as long as we have Chaudhry Court sitting in Supreme Court premisis, all Petitioners will be given a warm welcome by his staff and will get relief much beyond what they can dream of.

    • Relief is not petioner rather it is to Pakistan state WHICH IS IN DANGER. What is harm in probing the memo issue.

  6. We know PPP is corrupt but Supreme Court action has embarrassed the justice where no procedure and SC seems working for PMLN not for justice. OH ALLAHA change needed in Pakistan perhaps PTI can brings ????

    • Was Sc decision for personal benefit of PML N or Sharifs or it was for national interest. What is wrong about decision. AG first Law officer agreed. If Federal Govt does not agree to form commision to probein to it, is it to be accepted. Case is not started, Commission will gather proves. Notices to all concerned have been issued. If Govt has any objection, they may raise on next hearing.

  7. Can the accused really be trusted to investigate the crime? No he can't. So the Supreme Court has acted in response to public petitions to appoint a commission. If the accused are innocent, they should welcome a judicial commission to clear them.

By now anyone living in Pakistan knows that the judgments and findings of the Supreme Court are ignore by the Government and its ministers.
