Pakistan has decided to take up the issue of strikes by the CIA-run unmanned aircraft in the country’s tribal regions as the government, rights groups and tribesmen say that they kill innocent people, a TV channel reported.
The US drones routinely fire missiles into tribal regions which the American officials have claimed to be bases for the militants who launch cross-border attacks into Afghanistan.
Pakistan repeatedly asks the Unites States to stop drone strikes but Americans have ruled out any change in the policy. The issue of drone attacks is one of the irritants in the bilateral relationship.
After the US refusal to halt the strikes, Pakistan has decided to approach the UN to seek its help to stop these attacks, which Pakistan insists is counter-productive in the war on terror, the channel reported.
Pakistani government has started collecting data about the US drone attacks and casualties.
The government has directed the administrative officials in the tribal regions to provide details about the strikes to vigorously pursue the case.

  1. weird how drone attacks are carried out with tacit support and approval of Pak Army.

that being said, these people should read the book "Taliban and Anti-Taliban" by Farhat Taj who talks about these issues very well and factually.

Amid the shroud of emotional hype and propaganda we see all around, Farhat Taj's book is an eye opener as it describes FATA's struggle to eliminate Taliban menace!

  5. This article is vague about the source of this piece of news. I would also like to clarify that Pakistan has not asked the US to stop drone attacks, and it has the authority to do so any time. However, due to recent events, the government is reluctantly pursuing the matter of civilian casualties.
I believe that it's simply trying to appease both sides, and has no intention of asking the US to stop. Over the past few years, the Pakistani government has effectively sold out its own citizens's lives and traded it for a US that ignores all of its blunders.

  6. Finally……..poor Hussain Haroon was begging since long…he be allowed to take up this in UN. Will it stop drone attacks is another matter? At least make file the protest.

  7. why are they complianing they the us ask for the the high value targe to be handed over and the drone will stop but they shelther the most wanted under they nose and they send taliban to kill for no good reason now when the the tide turn they are begging for mercy
