The city administrator notified on Saturday the Schedule of Establishment for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) with immediate effect.
The old metropolitan corporation was restored in place of the City District Government Karachi (CDGK), after the revival of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 1979 and expiry of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2011 on November 5.
Under the new notification, the administrative departments operating previously under the now- defunct CDGK will be reshaped.
The CDGK’s group of offices/departments will now be re-designated as following:
Finance and Planning as Finance and Accounts Department; Works and Services as Engineering Department; Municipal Services as Health Department; and Health as Medical Services Department.
Whereas, Law Department, Human Resource Management Department, Parks and Horticulture Department and Media Management Department will have the same names under the KMC, as they had with the CDGK.
Moreover, the posts of the heads of various departments have also been changed.
Earlier under the CDGK, the head of the department were designated as the executive district officers (EDOs) of the respective departments.
The KMC’s Finance and Accounts Department head will be now posted as Financial Adviser; Engineering Department head as Technical Services Director General; and the Law Department head as Legal Adviser.
Meanwhile, the Parks and Horticulture, Health, Medical Services, Human Resource Management and Media Management departments will now be headed by their respective directors.
