Three people were killed on Saturday during a clash between two rival families at Mial village in the precincts of Chontra Police Station.
Soon after the incident, police reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies to District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) for autopsy. The victims are identified as Afzal Shah, Sagheer Shah and Irshad Begum, a woman. Sub-Inspector (SI) Zafar Iqbal, who is investigating the triple murder case, said there was an old enmity between the two groups, adding that Pervaiz, a proclaimed offender, kidnapped Sagheer Shah at 10:00am and shifted him on his outhouse. The sub-inspector said Afzal Shah, the son of Sagheer, went to rescue his father when the opponents opened indiscriminate fire and killed him on the spot. He said Irshad Begum, the widow of Niamat Ali who belonged to Pervaiz group, also lost her life after receiving multiple wounds. Police are investigating the matter.
