ANP leader gunned down in PECHS

Five people, including an Awami National Party (ANP) leader, were killed in different incidents across Karachi on Tuesday. ANP’s Gul Muhammad Khan was gunned down in PECHS Society. Following the incident, protesters torched a bus in the Lal Kothi area, whereas aerial firing was also reported. Moreover, another vehicle was set ablaze in Chanesar Goth. Separately, Rehmat Deen was shot dead in Naval Colony. A First Information Report was registered against unidentified culprits and the deceased was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. In another incident, two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle gunned down Muhammad Zafar in the Timber Market area of Lyari. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK). In yet another incident, an unidentified person was shot dead in Nazimabad No 2. The body was shifted to the CHK. Meanwhile, Haider Khan was killed and Hassan Khan critically injured in a firing incident in Defence Housing Authority Phase-V.
OPERATIONS: Two alleged killers among 18 suspects were arrested from different parts of the metropolitan. Pakistan Rangers-Sindh arrested nine suspects during targeted operations in Chakiwara, Jhatpat Market, Aath Chowk and Gul Muhammad Lane of Lyari. Weapons were also recovered from their possession. Separately, the Crime Investigation Department arrested two suspects from North Nazimabad for their alleged involvement in the murder of two people. Suspects Rohail and Rashid were shifted to an undisclosed location after the arrest. Sources said the suspects are affiliated with a political party. In separate raids across the city, police arrested seven suspects for their alleged involvement in kidnapping for ransom cases. Five abductees were also freed, whereas weapons were recovered from the suspects.
HEROIN: Following a tip-off, police recovered four heavy bags of heroin from a truck on the Mirza Adam Khan Road. The driver was arrested and the vehicle impounded.
