A murder accused on Tuesday escaped from police custody in the Lahore High Court premises after the court rejected his bail plea and could not be caught by the police. The accused, who was being held from his trouser cord instead of being handcuffed, pushed the policemen and ran away in broad daylight. The incident made the police and the LHC’s security staff a laughing stock in the eyes of the lawyers and the public who accused the police of helping him. Earlier, Justice Rauf Ahmad Shaikh had rejected the bail plea of the accused, Atif, in a murder case registered at Saiyanwala Police Station, District Faisalabad, for killing a man namely Asif.
