Interior Affairs Minister Rehman Malik on Tuesday assured the National Assembly that culprits involved in the killing of four Hindu community members would be arrested soon. At least eleven accused allegedly involved in the murder had already been apprehended while the rest nominated by the heirs would be arrested soon.
Responding to various points of orders in the House, he said that the murder of Hindu doctors was not target killing but the result of a personal enmity between the two rival groups. Speaking on the Balochistan situation, the minister said that the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi was behind the target killings in the province. Some 25 mobile phones being used in target killing and their planning have been recovered from various jails, he added.
Rehman said that under the 18th Constitutional Amendment, maintenance of law and order was now the responsibility of provinces. However, the federal government would provide logistic support to provincial governments in maintaining law and order. Regarding withdrawal of security from the house of National Assembly speaker, he said as per Blue Book the security of a VVIP was the responsibility of respective province if the VVIP visited the area.
Earlier, speaking on a point of order, Dr Darshan condemned the murder of minority community members in Shikarpur on Eid day. He alleged that the local administration was involved in the murder of Hindus. He said a high powered parliamentary committee should be constituted to probe the murders. Dr Mehesh Kumar also condemned the murder of fellow minority members, and said a member of minority community had been missing from his house from the last four months.
Lal Chand paid tribute to President Asif Ali Zardari for taking immediate action against the killers of minority community members. Usman Khan, Fakhrunisa Khokar and Asia Nasir also condemned the murder of minority community members. Fakhrunisa Khokar demanded the appointment of an ombudsman for protecting the rights of minorities. Speaking on a point of order, Noshin Saeed raised the issue of torture of a 15-year-old boy by police in Punjab.
She said the policemen must be educated to respect human rights. Rohail Asghar condemned the reported withdrawal of security from the house of the Speaker of National Assembly situated in Karachi. Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza clarified that the security of her house was restored immediately on the orders of the president and the prime minister.
Its nice to see the politicians trying to downplay this unfortunate and barbaric event as a hostility between two rival groups rather than communal terrorism against a minority. This is typical in Pakistani mentality. Lets not admit the real reason and play down to make ourselves look good. Sorry but everyone can see through this charade.
At the end of it, the politicians will say that they werent able to apprehend the real culprits, and those suspects arrested had no connection to the event therefore were released with no charge against them.
Typical, repetitive and predicatable from a nation drowning in the acid of terrorism.
