Kashmir in Gilani-Singh talks

Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Sunday said that Pakistan and India are successful in reducing the trust deficit and started building the trust.
Addressing a news conference, she said this would take the two countries to result oriented dialogue on all issues including Kashmir. Referring to meeting between Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh in Maldives, she said it was very constructive and positive.
All issues including terrorism and Kashmir came under discussion during the meeting, she said. She said both the leaders had thirty-minute one on one meeting. The Indian prime minister also said, “we want to move forward.” Answering a question, the foreign minister said Pakistan was pursuing good neighbourly relations with India. She described the agreement of SAARC countries to meet any natural calamity with unity, as a landmark agreement. Khar said China is taking keen interest in SAARC which is a welcome step.
She said SAARC could play an important role in the region. She said Pakistan has suggested establishment of a SAARC Regional Bank. About meeting between Prime Minister Gilani and Afghan President Hamid Karzai, she said it was held in a positive atmosphere.
The prime minister said that he (prime minister) and President Zardari had taken personal interest in Pak-Afghan relationship and taken it forward. She said a stable Afghanistan was in the interest of Pakistan and Pakistan supports Afghan-led and Afghan-owned initiative for peace in Afghanistan.
Referring to the meetings of prime minister with his Russian and Chinese counterparts on the sidelines of SCO Summit in Saint Petersburg, the foreign minister said both were useful, constructive and forward looking. “We have achieved new heights in our relations with Russia.”
