The Islamabad High Court dismissed Friday a petition filed by several employees, working in two attached departments of Interior Ministry. The employees had sought the court intervention to stop their repatriation.
A single member bench comprising Chief Justice Iqbal Hamidur Rehman was hearing the case of separate petitions filed by employees of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP).
The petitioners contended that they were on deputation in the FIA for three years but they were being repatriated before the completion of their scheduled term.
The deputy attorney general, however, told the court that the FIA was an investigative institution while the petitioners had no background of working for it.
He said the institution had the authority to repatriate employees on deputation anytime.
In a separate petition filed by the ITP officials, the petitioners contended that they had been working in the ITP on deputation since 2006 and their families were settled in Islamabad. Their lawyers contended that their clients who had come to Islamabad in 2006 from Sindh police and demanded that their petitioners should be regularised in the ITP and their pending dues be released at the earliest.
The DAG told the court that upon completion of their deputation period the said officials would be sent to their parent departments according to relevant laws. After hearing the arguments from the both sides, the CJ dismissed the petition.
