Speakers at a seminar here Tuesday stressed the role of women in perspective with Islamic awakening, saying status of women in Islam was indisputably high and their rights and duties were equal to those of men.
The seminar was organised by Department of Politics and International Relations (P&IR) and Department of Software Engineering (SE), Female Campus of the International Islamic University, Islamabad, (IIUI), on the title of ‘Emerging Women Leadership in the World’.
The speakers said that women had power to create, nurture and transform the societies. They said one of the most important points in the Islamic awakening movement in the region which had invited the world’s attention was presence of many Muslim women wearing Hijab or Islamic dress. They further added that unparallel resistance and meaningful presence of Muslim women was to be considered as one of the underlying causes of continuation of the wave of Islamic awakening in most of the Islamic countries. They further said it was worth emphasising that revival of the status of women and their role in Muslim societies was a promising movement which would bring about progress for Islamic communities. The essential solution for Muslim women was their purposeful presence in different political and socio-cultural areas, so they must keep their Islamic and gender identity to play an effective role in managing the affairs.
Dr Tayyibeh Safaie, Dr. Lailah Iftekhari and Dr Iran Rokanbandi were the guest speakers on the occasion. Prof Qaiserah M Alvi, director, female campus, IIUI, Dr Noor Fatima, chairperson, Department of P&IR, and a large number of faculty members and students were present at the seminar.
