ISLAMABAD – Senator Zafar Ali Shah challenged appointments of governors of all provinces in the Supreme Court, a private TV channel reported on Wednesday.
The petitioner contended that the president was bound to take advice from the prime minister while appointing governors in the light of Article 101 of the constitution. All the governors were appointed in former president Pervez Musharraf’s tenure so all the appointments have now become unconstitutional.
Senator Shah who is also senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-N sought to declare the appointments of all the governors unconstitutional. He requested the court to bar the governors from holding offices and ensure appointment of their replacements in line with consultations of the prime minister.
