The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) is considering exempting CNG stations from gas load shedding during the Eid holidays, sources told Pakistan Today on Saturday. In routine, the CNG stations of Lahore region are closed for two and a half days, from early morning on Monday till 6pm on Wednesday.
Eid-ul-Adha would be celebrated on Monday (November 7) in the country. Therefore the SNGPL authorities are considering providing relief to masses by allowing gas supply to the CNG stations. The Potohar region CNG stations are closed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, thus only the people living in Lahore region would face mobility problems during Eid holidays.
The Lahore region for CNG sector includes Lahore, Okara, Sahiwal, Arifwala, Sialkot, Gujranwala and Gujrat. “The demand of gas would drop during Eid holidays, as more than 90 percent of industries would remain closed and this extra gas could be diverted to CNG sector and people could be relieved,” the sources said.The Pakistan Railways has already announced closure many trains.
In absence of train service by Pakistan Railways, the decision of keeping CNG stations open would benefit thousands of people. However, the transporters would have an opportunity to exploit passengers by charging high fares. The owners of CNG stations welcomed the decision, adding that it would benefit people as well as their businesses.
we appreciate OGRA for considering the peoples genuine problem and giving them the relief at least to enjoy during the festivals. we pray to ALLAH that the govt. should advise OGRA to remove the 2 days CNG load shedding also.
Further more we also suggest that all the commercial transport may not be supplied with the CNG since they are charging the Fares according to the cost of Diesel /Fuel and not according to the cost of CNG.
There is already a load shedding of CNG in Lahore this week ie 2 & 3 Aug. They are just making people fool by passing on incomplete information just like in the days of previous government. This government is bound to meet the same fate.
