Lawyer murdered near Pakistan Chowk

A lawyer was shot dead by unidentified people near Pakistan Chowk on Friday. He was identified as Kausar Zaidi. Separately, robbers killed a man near Mosamiat Chowrangi on University Road while attempting to snatch his car. The victim, identified as Raza Hassan, was the general manager of the Jubilee Insurance Company. He was a resident of Malir Cantt and was on his way home along with his minor daughter, Tahira.
The robbers were trying to escape with the car but as the police arrived at the spot, they escaped leaving behind the vehicle. The victim’s daughter remained unhurt. In another incident, a man was killed by his brother in Shah Faisal Colony. Sarfaraz opened fire on his brother Hashmat over a minor dispute and killed him on the spot.
ARRESTS: Rangers and police conducted a search operation in Dalmia on Friday and arrested eight people. They also recovered weapons including four TT pistols, two rifles and four grenades, from their possession. The police also conducted search operations in Godhra Colony, Rehmania Colony and Sector 11-F areas of New Karachi and arrested 12 people.
They recovered Kalashnikovs, TT pistols and revolvers from the arrested suspects. Two men were held in North Nazimabad for opening fire on police after they were signalled to stop during snap-checking by the latter. Police recovered two TT pistols and mobile phones from their possession. Three alleged street criminals were arrested from Korangi, Shah Faisal and Malir.
FIRE: A fire erupted in the Shanti Nagar slum of Gulshan-e-Iqbal gutting several huts. A woman and a minor child were taken to Jinnah hospital with burn injuries. Four fire tenders were used to douse the blaze.
