ISLAMABAD – Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) hearing committee has closed cases of fifteen lawmakers who are accused of having fake degrees.
This decision was taken on Tuesday by the ECP hearing committee, which has been conducting hearings of fake degree holders for the last almost five months.
A senior official of ECP wishing not to be named said that during the first week of January, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) would refer the cases of those lawmakers to DPOs concerned for the registration of first information reports (FIRs).
“We have closed the cases of fifteen lawmakers, which would be sent to CEC for appropriate action against the accused legislatures,” said Afzal Khan, the head of hearing committee.
However, he said the accused lawmakers could submit documents in support of their degrees by December 30.
