A one-day training workshop on the HEC Plagiarism Policy held at the main campus of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) for creating awareness amongst the supervisors, teachers and researchers involved in research activities at different levels. All the academic staff members participated in the practicum, which was conducted by Majid Rashid, the head of Commonwealth of Learning MBA/MPA Programme, and Nazim Hussain, a lecturer in MBA/MPA. Different aspects of plagiarism came under discussion, which included its definition and various forms, the ways and means to avoid it and the consequences.
The audience actively participated in the discussion and raised queries to get the concepts clarified. In addition to valuable discussion, a demonstration on the computer software, used to check similarity of research work/publication materials, was also given to the participants. The participants highly appreciated the workshop and found it very useful for handling their official assignments. Ismatullah Butt, a consultant and organiser of the programme, thanked the participants for their interest and assured them of the management’s continued support for training and development of the university’s staff.
