Drug smuggling bid foiled, 60 kg hashish, 8 kg opium recovered

Police on Saturday claimed to have foiled an attempt to smuggle huge cache of drugs and recovered 60 kilograms of hashish, eight kilograms of opium from a vehicle during routine checking at the Islamabad Toll Plaza,
A police spokesman said the recovery was made in the Golra Police precincts.
He said that SP (Saddar) Sajid Kiani and ASP Dr Ghayas Gull had told Station House Officer of the Golra police station Inspector Qasim Khan Niazi to maintain high vigilance in the area, especially at the outer cordons.
A special team headed by Niazi and comprising ASI Abdul Waheed and others was deployed at the toll plaza, which stopped a car (STC 4030) near Saadaqat Colony and recovered 60 kilograms of hashish and eight kilograms of opium from it.
The drugs had been concealed in various cavities of car and the policemen also nabbed the driver, Rafaqat resident of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Rafaqat confessed to smuggling drugs from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab.
Islamabad SSP Muhammad Yousuf Malik and SP (Saddar) Sajid Kiani appreciated the drugs recovery and police performance.
