Ninety transport inspectors have been recruited on merit for the implementation of an efficient system of urban transport. The police training school played a key role in providing professional training and requisite expertise to these inspectors.
This was stated by Lahore Transport Company Chairman and Chief Minister’s Advisor Khawaja Ahmed Hassan while addressing a passing out parade of transport inspectors at the Police Training School Chung on Saturday.
The LTC chairman said the newly appointed transport enforcement inspectors had been provided the latest professional training to enable them to face the challenges of maintaining traffic discipline. He said these transport inspectors had received training from the police and Rescue 1122, thus were equipped to meet health-care emergencies.
He said these inspectors would be deployed on the roads of Lahore to facilitate commuters and operators in order to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and orderly conduct on the roads.
He said the Lahore Transport Company was committed towards providing an affordable and efficient transport system to Lahore, for which purpose 211 buses of international standards would soon be seen on the roads of Lahore. He added that due to the vision of the Punjab chief minister, national and international transport companies were taking a keen interest in investing in the urban transport sector. He said the newly recruited transport inspectors were expected to perform at par with the Motorway Police and render valuable assistance in implementing a mechanism devised for the smooth operation of urban transport in Lahore. He said the transport enforcement inspectors would play a key role in generating awareness about traffic discipline and would take action against unlawful traffic, and encroachments on bus stops. He said an additional 60 transport inspectors would be given professional training soon.
