The spokesman of Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmed Raza Tahir, Rai Nazar Hayat, confessed while talking to Pakistan Today that a false handout had been issued by his branch on Tuesday that informed about the meeting of a Turkish National Police delegation and CCPO Tahir.
As per details, since the Lahore Police’s performance has not up to the mark lately, Hayat has been dispatching false information in order to please his boss and to give the citizens a positive impression of the Lahore Police. He issued a handout which claimed that Tahir was briefing a 5-member delegation of Turkish National Police, headed by its Director General Ahmet at his office, whereas Fatih Inalkac, Yavuz Ozdemir, Ertugru Senyigit, Engine Yilmaz, Remzi Guney and Interpreter Taner were the members of the visiting delegation.
The handout claimed that the CCPO said Lahore Police was utilising modern technology to combat crime and terrorism in the city. It was noted that the Turkish Police had always been on the forefront to provide Pakistani Police with the techniques of drug-seizing and latest methods of law enforcement. He informed the distinguished delegation about the history and performance of the Lahore Police. He said the relationship between Pakistan and Turkey was deep-rooted in culture, religion and sprang from Muslim brotherhood. He said every Pakistani considered Turkey as his second home and that Pakistan’s linguistic ties with Turkey were so strong that the very name our national language was borrowed from Turkish. Tahir said every Pakistani respected Kamal Atta Turk and his achievements and considered him an inspiring leader to achieve success in international delimit. The CCPO said the visiting delegation of police officers from Turkey would help in productive, interactive and fruitful exchange of experience because as fellow police officers, the Pakistani Police and the Turkish Police faced similar stresses, strains and challenges. The handout also claimed that Ahmet assured the CCPO that the Turkish Police would cooperate with Pakistani officers and thanked him for his warm hospitality.
Surprisingly, Hayat issued the handout before the meeting had occurred but Tahir defended Hayat saying that the he was with the delegation all the day, so there was nothing wrong with issuing the handout except that the delegation had never visited the CCPO in his office.
Hayat issued the same handout again with minor changes for instance, ‘5-member delegations’ was replaced with ‘7-member delegation’ and a few more details were added. The handout issued also included that the CCPO presented commemorative shields to the Turkish National Police delegation whereas the delegation chief presented a commemorative shield and an honorary Turkish Police Cap to the CCPO.
Hayat said the handout was issued by his subordinates mistakenly and that they had suspended the operator who forwarded the handout to the media. He confessed that the handout was false and the Turkish delegation met the CCPO on Wednesday. In order to check Hayat’s statement, sources at Tahir’s office denied the suspension of any operator.
