The Lahore High Court (LHC) has stopped the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) authorities from taking any action against the Sharif family. A two member Rawalpindi bench of Lahore High Court consisting of Justice Ijazul Hasan and Justice Wahid Khan heard the NAB references against Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and other members of their family. Akram Sheikh advocate while arguing in the case, said that these NAB references filed against Sharif family were an iniquitous step from the Musharraf regime in 2000 and references lasting for 11 years were the worst example of political revenge and were used for blackmailing. The court asked that why the accused were not trialed in 2007 while they were in Pakistan. NAB Prosecutor Hanif Tahir replied that the controversial appointment of NAB chairman hindered the filing of reference against the Sharifs.
