Teaching hospitals’ senior doctors given dengue duty

The Health department has assigned duties to consultants and senior doctors of teaching hospitals to save the lives of serious patients and improve treatment facilities of under-treatment dengue patients in secondary hospitals of Lahore. The department issued a formal notification in this regard. According to the notification, Prof Dr Rashid Qureshi of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Post Graduate Trainee Dr Ijaz would perform duties in Government Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital. Dr Ali Hameed and Dr Imran Babar of Services Hospital have been deputed to the Government Mian Munshi Hospital for the treatment of dengue patients.
Dr Mukarram and Dr Shafique of Mayo Hospital would perform duties in Government Said Mitha Hospital, Dr Adeel and Dr Muhammad Azhar of Mayo Hospital in Government Shahdara Hospital, whereas Dr Adnan and Dr Salman of Jinnah Hospital would serve at the Government Mian Nawaz Sharif Hospital Yakki Gate. Similarly, Dr Hassan Ali Khan and Dr Syed Ahmed Zeeshan of Children Hospital would look after the dengue patients in Government Mazung Hospital. The department directed the senior doctors to take morning and evening rounds of dengue wards in secondary hospitals, and that they should carefully monitor the medical treatment being given to dengue patients and immediately refer critical cases to the high dependency units set up in teaching hospitals.
