PTCL announces Rs1.4 billion profit, 7pc revenue growth

Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) has announced a net profit of Rs1.4 billion during the first quarter of its business in the current financial year, showing a growth of seven per cent over last year. “PTCL’s continued profits and growth in the first quarter is an indicator of our customers’ satisfaction and trust,” said PTCL CEO and President Walid Irshaid, following a meeting of the company’s Board of Directors held here today, which announced the financial results.
“PTCL remains committed to provide friendly, seamless and prompt services to all our customers.” PTCL group revenue during the period under review stood at Rs27.2 billion, showing a growth of 7 per cent over last year. Of this, PTCL’s revenue was Rs14.5 billion. According to the announcement of the PTCL Board of Directors, the company’s revenue during the period ending September 30, 2011 stands at Rs.27.2 billion.
Of this, PTCL’s revenue stands at Rs.14.5 billion. In the first quarter of the current year, PTCL also launched Pakistan’s first ever 3G enabled tablet with built-in EVO Wireless Broadband. Currently available in more than 100 cities, “3G EVO Tab” is a 7-inch touch screen tablet offering wireless broadband Internet on the go. Powered by Google Android Froyo 2.2 operating system, it offers support for both 3G and Wi-Fi for uninterrupted and on-the-go Internet connectivity. “3G EVO Tab is the most recent of all our innovations that PTCL is producing in line with our vision of introducing future-based communications technology,” said Mr. Irshaid.
With nearly a 90 per cent national market share, PTCL’s DSL Broadband is the country’s largest and fastest growing broadband service available in more than 1000 cities and towns. On the wireless broadband front the company has introduced innovative products that are in line with the futuristic approach of the company. “We are constantly innovating and improving our customer experience,” said Mr. Irshaid, while recounting the successes of PTCL’s most recent business offerings. “We strongly believe that PTCL will remain the market leader and a service provider of choice throughout Pakistan for providing cutting-edge integrated telecom solutions to our customers.” Talking about the company’s landline services, Mr. Irshaid said that PTCL is promoting an increase in the usage and subscriber base. Conscious efforts are being made to further facilitate landline customers by expanding the spectrum of available services and packages. The geographical reach of popular packages is being extended to benefit a broader customer base.
