The traffic police announced on Monday that Shahrah-e-Faisal will be closed for vehicular traffic on Tuesday (today) from 6 pm till late night due to the candlelight vigil there to remember the victims of the Karsaz tragedy in 2007. The road will be closed from the Tipu Sultan signal towards the airport and from the Drigh Road towards the city’s centre. The traffic police have advised drivers to use following alternate routes: Drivers coming from Quaidabad and Malir areas may use the Malir Cantt Link Road to the Main University Road from where they may proceed towards Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Mazar-e-Quaid and other parts of the city.
Similarly, vehicles coming from Malir and Quaidabad may proceed towards the Shah Faisal Colony Bridge to the Korangi Industrial Area Road, Zaman Town and then the Sunset Boulevard. The traffic moving from Keamari and Merewether Tower areas towards Malir and Quaidabad may use the Korangi Road, Korangi Industrial Area Road, Dawood Chowrangi, Quaidabad Bridge and Malir route. The traffic using the Shahrah-e-Faisal to reach the airport will be diverted from under the Shahrah-e-Quaideen Bridge towards the Tariq Road and from under the Baloch Colony Bridge to the Shaheed-e-Millat Road to proceed towards their destination. To avoid any inconvenience, the traffic proceeding to the airport may utilise the MA Jinnah Road, New MA Jinnah Road, University Road, Stadium Road, Dalmia, Rashid Minhas Road and Drigh Road to cross the main Shahrah-e-Faisal to head for the airport.
