LAHORE – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Punjab on Monday filed a reference in an accountability court against former Bahawalnagar postmaster Muhammad Saleem on charges of embezzling public money through bogus money order receipts and miscellaneous head of accounts.
According to details, Saleem while serving as Bahawalnagar Cantt Sub-Post Office Incharge in 2006, misappropriated Rs 0.47 million through bogus money order receipts and miscellaneous head of accounts including net cash.
The accused used to issue money order receipts to remitters of money orders and also dispatched money orders booked to respective offices for payment so that no public complaint might occur but he retained a carbon copy of the money order issue receipt without the money order issued journals required to be sent to the Bahawalnagar General Post Office (GPO) in support of entries of money orders issued amount.
