Convince others to join the struggle against the current government to create an Islamic welfare state in the country, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan chief Munawar Hassan said, addressing Islami Jamiat-e-Taliba (IJT) activists on the second day of IJT General Convention 2011 at Punjab University on Sunday.
“The world was witness when you countered the slogans of socialism and communism with the slogans of the Islamic ideology. People are now looking to you to rid them of the perils of capitalism and US hegemony, for its interference in the affairs of Muslim countries,” he said.
The JI chief said the US and its allies were facing a practical and ideological defeat as people stood against their policies not only in oppressed countries but also in New York, Washington, London, Paris and Berlin while the armed forces of the US and its 40 NATO and non-NATO allies were facing a crushing defeat in Afghanistan, like the defunct Soviet Union.
Muslims, especially in Pakistan, were not against Americans or Europeans but they differed strongly with the policies of Washington, Pentagon and the governments of European countries that conspire to suppress the Muslim world and take over its resources, he added. IJT chief told the activists that the Islamic system of governance was the only way to put an end to their deprivation, injustice, oppression and economic issues.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Secretary General Jahangir Badar, while addressing IJT activists, said in order to unite the youth from other political parties, they needed to provide them with an undisputed platform that put peace and socioeconomic justice together. Awami Muslim League Chief Shaikh Rasheed declared IJT as the country’s most organised, disciplined and peaceful student force and said despite scores of reactionary IJT workers across the country, the student force struggled to bring about change in a peaceful manner.
Criticising the government, he said JI and IJT would have to convince people of their ends in a peaceful manner following the examples of Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen and other Muslim countries. JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch said the people were frustrated due to the social, economic and law and order issues in the country and that IJT was the only ray of hope to bring about peaceful amends in the government.
President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP), Abul Khair Zubair, said Islam and the real ideology of Pakistan were under an ideological attack while the geographical frontiers of the country were also being assaulted. Islamic forces were to politically defend the geographical and ideological frontiers of the country, he added.
The JUP chief warned against any bid to assassinate or execute Mumtaz Qadri, the assassin of former Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, and said any such attempt would result in a strong reaction from the people. Baloch Nationalist Leader Abdul Hai Baloch said the youth had the potential to revolutionise the nation and said they should be united and convinced through logic and play a positive role in bringing positive change in the country.
He said the entire Balochistan was burning and Balochs were being killed indiscriminately but the ruling elite did not pay heed to their grievances. Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir Syed Munawar Hassan. THE JAMIAT CONVENTION HAS SHOWN A SIGN OF HOPE TO YOUNG PAKISTANIS WHO BELIEVE THAT PAKISTAN IS A GIFT FROM ALLAH AND THEY ARE BOUND TO PROTECT IT FROM INTERTAL AND EXTERNAL EVIL FORCES.
