The Save Sindh Committee has announced staging a sit-in in front of the Sindh Governor’s House on November 3 to protest Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan’s ordinance regarding the Sindh Local Government Ordinance (SLGO)-2001. Members of the committee said the federal government is interfering in provincial matters, whereas the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is ready to make administrative divisions in Sindh for the sake of staying in power.
Addressing a press conference at his residence on Saturday, the committee’s leader and former Sindh Assembly deputy speaker Syed Jalal Mahmood Shah said the committee had decided during a meeting to stage a sit-in in front of the Governor’s House to protest the governor’s ordinance regarding the local government ordinance. Shah said the federal government has been interfering in provincial matters through its representative.
He said the PPP is interested in staying in power at the price of administrative divisions of the province. He also said the people of Sindh would not allow anyone to divide the province administratively. He further said records of land were altered and changed to fake names during former president Pervez Musharraf’s SLGO-2001. The committee’s meeting on Saturday was also attended by leaders of all member parties, including Bashir Qureshi and Mumtaz Bhutto.
