Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ombudsman Bacha Gul Wazir said on Saturday that the main purpose of the office of ombudsman was to probe into the maladministration in government institutions and provide relief to the affected people. Addressing a press conference, he said that the office of ombudsman had been established in KP in February 2011 and had been working effectively since then.
He said that a total 415 complaints had been registered in the Ombudsman Secretariat of KP so far. 150 objections had been disqualified on the basis of irrelevance, 61 complaints related to federal institutions had been forwarded to the federal ombudsman office, while the rest of the complaints had either been resolved or were currently in the final stage of the process.
He said anyone, except for the officials from KP Assembly and Judiciary, could complain about any government office, emphasizing on the provision in the KP Ombudsman Act 2010 for the protection of women and children and their convenient access to the concerned complaint office.
