LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) chief justice has constituted a full bench to hear a petition seeking the registration of a high treason case under Article 6 of the constitution against Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani. Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed would preside over the full bench and other members include Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh and Justice Chaudhry Shahid Saeed.
The petitioner has stated that the prime minister is not implementing Supreme Court orders but kept saying in public meetings that he was enforcing these verdicts in letter and spirit. The petitioner has argued that this act on the part of the premier is a bid to misguide the nation, therefore a case of high treason should be registered against him.
The bench will take up the petition for regular hearing next week. Online
